Leyland SDM donated £10,000 to us to support the work of the Burma Children Medical Fund, which works with refugee children who have escaped Burma's ware torn north to find a safe haven in Mae Sot, North-West Thailand.
Then Chief Executive Andy Urban learnt, by chance of our appeal to treat Zin Ko, whose parents escaped terrible fighting in Burma, only to find that their six year old son was suffering from childhood leukemia. Paying for his treatment was impossible for the penniless refugee family. Andy decided that Leyland would match all the money raised, £1 for £1. Soon Leyland SDM was handing over a cheque for £6,000.
