The Father Ray Children's Village
Grouped together in the shade of tall palms, in a secluded compoound far from the busy heart of Pattaya, the houses of the Fr Ray Children's Village offer a safe haven and the experience of secure family life to a growing number of very special children.
Thanks to some hard work by gardeners, children and Fr Peter Pattarapong, the 'village' now sits is a lush vegetable garden with manioc, bananas, and lots of different vegetables. The garden supplies the Village and all the other Fr Ray Foundation projects with fresh and healthy home-grown food.
Each family is chosen so that there is a mixture of boys and girls, older and younger children, and a permanent House Mother rules the roost - with some help from 'Aunties' to allow for days off. Because several similar houses are grouped together in one location the children have the benefit not only of a family structure but of a wider group of cildren around their own age, so there is always someone to play with when homework's done.
